altSeptember 13 -  The Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership for the 2012 Games (CW2012) has launched its new look website.

The website www.cswp.org.uk/london2012 has been re-launched with a fresh look and includes brand new features and information to celebrate passing the two years to go until London 2012 landmark.

CW2012 is a unique combination of public, private and voluntary organisations, working together to maximise opportunities for the sub-region arising from the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The website offers the latest information about how to get involved in 2012-related activities across Coventry and Warwickshire and national London 2012 initiatives running across the UK.

The site will also act as a complete archive of all things 2012 that have taken place in the region during the build-up to the Games - making it one of the most comprehensive London 2012 sites on the internet.

Key new features include a newsflash banner on the homepage, fact sheets about London 2012, information about tickets and visiting the Olympic Park, news feeds and the latest news, blogs and events.

Tom Clift, Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership manager for the 2012 Games, said: "It is imperative that with less than 100 weeks to go until the first game of Olympic Football in Coventry that the public has access to high quality and up-to-date information on how they can get involved in London 2012.

"Through our new website, everything people could want to know is now just a few clicks away, enabling and inspiring individuals and organisations to find out how they can get involved in London 2012 and what’s happening locally across the sub-region.

"We are very proud of the website features, which offer unique insights into our 2012 activity and will catalogue our journey to London 2012.

"We would encourage anyone who wants to know about the 2012 Games to visit the site so they don’t miss out on being part of the biggest sporting event in the world."

A special feature of the site is the Hall of Fame featuring all known Olympic and Paralympic athletes with Coventry and Warwickshire connections as part of CW2012’s Legends of the Games project which has received recognition from London 2012 through the Inspire Mark scheme.

Users can also access information on the five major achievements for the region including details of Coventry hosting Olympic football at the Ricoh Arena.

The site will also include details on the new London 2012 Live Site, which will see a large screen installed outside Coventry Transport Museum to broadcast the Games as well as community and other London 2012-related events.

CW2012 will also aim to secure visits from the Olympic Torch relay and is supporting a number of national Cultural Olympiad projects including the World Shakespeare Festival in Stratford-upon-Avon and Godiva Awakes, which will see a ten metre high Lady Godiva powered by 50 cyclists travel to London in a week-long celebration.

Coventry Cathedral’s 50th anniversary also coincides with the Olympic year of 2012 and CW2012 will be looking to tie in the anniversary’s messages of peace and reconciliation with the corresponding values of the Olympic Games.
