August 25 - London-based financial company Intermarket, who lost out on the opportunity to buy West Ham United, have now emerged as one of the Premier League club's rivals to take over the Olympic Stadium following the 2012 Olympics and Paralympics.

The firm, co-founded by David Byrne, was a bidder for West Ham before David Sullivan and David Gold brought the club earlier this year.

Now the private equity firm is part of a consortium which claims to be in negotiations with Vodafone to sponsor the Stadium after the Olympics.

Byrne told today's edition of the London Evening Standard: "Our bid includes funding of at least £100 million ($155 million) for investment in a re-vamped Olympic Stadium.

"I have been talking to major corporations like Vodafone about naming rights.

"I can't say how much we are bidding but we pledge at least 25 per cent of profits will go to legacy work."

Intermarket claim that their consortium also includes AECOM, a United States-based technical and management support services group, who provided the masterplan for London's winning bid and are now leading the consortium working on the Legacy Masterplan Framework.

Music promoter 3A Entertainment is also reportedly part of the consortium, which plans to retain the athletics track after the Games.

But West Ham and AEG, the owners of the O2 Arena, remain the favourites to be awarded the tenancy of the Stadium when it is awarded by the Olympic Park Legacy Company next March.

Interested parties have until 12 noon, on Thursday September 30, to make a formal bid by completing a Pre-Qualification Questionnaire (PQQ).
