May 10 - Coca-Cola, the longest continuous corporate partner of the Olympic Games, today became a presenting partner for the Singapore leg of the journey of the Youth Olympic Flame. 



Coca-Cola, whose relationship with the Olympics stretches back to the Games at Amsterdam in 1928, is now set to work with Singapore 2010 to select torchbearers from the voluntary welfare organisations and coordinate programmes to motivate torchbearers and spectators in the run up to the six-day relay in Singapore.

Coca-Cola Singapore will also be supplying cash, goods and services including over 1.5 million units of beverages to support the inaugural Summer Youth Olympic Games.

Goh Kee Nguan, the chief executive of Singapore 2010, said: "We are delighted to have the partnership of Coca-Cola, who will be encouraging the torchbearers and spectators to give their best for the first Olympic Games torch relay in Singapore.

"We invite everyone in Singapore to experience and cheer the flame with us as we welcome the inaugural Youth Olympic Flame to Singapore."

The flame is due be lit in Olympia, Greece, in July and journey through one city in each continent - Berlin, Dakar, Mexico City, Auckland and Seoul before reaching Singapore.

Once in Singapore, the torch will travel to the five community districts with a traditional six-day torch relay and round off each day with a community celebration.
