February 22 - Olympic diver Blake Aldridge (pictured), who partnered Tom Daley in Beijing, has been arrested on suspicion of shoplifting and attacking a supermarket security guard.

Aldridge, 27, has been bailed to mid-March pending further inquiries into the incident in the early hours of Friday at the Tesco in Croydon Road, Beckenham, South East London.

Police were alerted to calls of a "shoplifter causing a disturbance" at 2.30am, Scotland Yard said.

A 27-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing actual bodily harm to a male security guard and shoplifting bottles of wine.

The other alleged suspect had already left by the time officers arrived at the store, police said.

Aldridge and Daley came eighth in the 10-metre synchronised dive at the 2008 Olympics.

Aldridge made a mobile phone call midway through the final and then blamed Daley's nerves for the pair's placing.

Aldridge's partnership with Daley ended last February after he was assaulted outside a night club.

Rob Daley, Tom's father, claimed that Aldridge was a bad influence.

In May 2009 Aldridge was fined £80 after being accused of stealing from B&Q, the store which used to sponsor him.

Aldridge was stopped by security staff after leaving the store with plumbing fittings.

He told staff he had put the fittings in his pocket because his hands were full with planks of wood and had "forgotten" to pay for them.
